Jina Seo
CORÉIA DO SUL
I am currently working as an artist, a jeweler, and an educator, pursuing my MFA at the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. I received my BFA at the Kookmin
University at Seoul, South Korea in 2012. My practice investigates my own
interpretations on the relationship between multiple subject matters, such as desire,
human body, and space by utilizing vintage garments. By uncovering the hidden
intimate and sensual power of the human body under the garments, I create the
moments that allow the viewer to have an uncanny experience to redeem the social
expectations, race, and gender. My work has been exhibited nationally and
internationally, including Brooklyn Metal works, Brooklyn, NY; Walker Art Center,
Minneapolis, MN; Woman Made Gallery, Chicago, IL; Sung-Gock Gallery, Seoul, Korea;
Museum of Arts and craft ITAMI, Itami, Japan; and (AV17) Gallery, Vilnius, Lithuania. I
was a Gold Award recipient for the ITAMI International Craft Exhibition in 2010.
